Today I am too tired, I have too many things to do, I don’t feel like it, I’ll think about it later. Before we know it, today has become next month, next year or never. I know because I have meant to learn Persian for the past 15 years, and I never do. I sometimes think about how much Persian I would know if I had spent 5 minutes a day learning.
You may think 5 minutes a day is not enough, but I guarantee you that 5 minutes a day is the first step towards change, the way to a decluttered home, family photo albums, and a running marathon at the end of the year. I have achieved many things with 5 to 15 minutes a day. It keeps the mess in the house from becoming unmanageable, it gets me hitting the trail when I just want to hide in bed, it gets my kids photo albums done.
Do you have daunting tasks to tackle this year? Maybe you need to declutter your house, maybe you want a new job, maybe you want to change your career, maybe you want to strengthen your marriage. Start with 5 minutes a day. Spend 5 minutes doing something nice and unexpected for your spouse. Give your spouse 5 minutes of undivided attention at a time you feel very busy or annoyed and see where that takes you, maybe you will stretch it to 15 minutes tomorrow and 1 hour at the end of the week even when you really do not feel like it.
All journeys start with a small step. Just take that step! Happy Travels!
